Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
‘Physiatry’ is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. They specialize in restoring optimal function to people with injuries to muscle, bones, tissues and nervous systems (e.g. stroke). They work with the Physical & Occupational therapists in the various SNF & LTC facilities to provide them with consultations and direction.
Our board certified Physiatrist – Dr. Candice Peters is skilled in electrodiagnostics, such as Nerve conduction studies (NCS) and Needle electromyography (EMG). The common conditions that Dr. Peters specializes in treating are: sports injuries, musculoskeletal pain syndromes such as back pain, fibromyalgia, joint & muscle problems, spinal cord injuries, stroke and amputations. The goal is to restore baseline function and optimize quality of life for those not able to achieve full restoration. Dr. Peters sees patients in our main office and also makes visits to our SNF, LTC & ALFs. Our experienced Nurse Practitioner, Vera Reublinger, CRNP also works closely with Dr. Peters.
